Dr. Thangjam Dhabali, the chairman and Managing Director of Babina Group of Industries believes in developing human resource and it is the only way to bring a change in the society and to divert the youths of the society from drugs and other anti-social elements and help in the prosperity of the state. He anticipating a demand for trained professional in the hospitality sector established the Classic Hospitality Training Institute on 8th March, 2013 under the aegis Manipal Global which is a joint venture of Manipal Education (India) and City & Guilds (U.K) with experience and certified trainers to provide world class education in hospitality sector by offering one year diploma courses and short term courses in different job roles under hospitality sector. At present the institute is an approved training partner of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). And also it is affiliated with Tourism and Hospitality Sector Council (THSC) and Sector Skill Council (SSC) now. It is located at Babina Diagnostic, 3rd floor, Imphal west, Manipur. On 30th January 2019 another centre of CHTI got added at Hotel Imphal by the Classic at 3rd floor.
As a unit of BABINA HEALTHCARE AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRIES PVT. LTD., Classic Hospitality Training Institute is a premier hospitality training centre in Manipur. It was inaugurated on 8th March, 2013 in the presence of dignitaries involving the then parliamentary secretary tourism, youth affairs and sports, M. Prithiviraj Singh (Government of Manipur), Director of Education(S), H. Deleep Singh (Govt. Of Manipur), Project Director of Manipur Skill Development Society, Hrishikesh Modak, the Managing Director of BABINA Healthcare and Hospitality Industries Pvt. Ltd. ,Dr. Thangjam Dhabali Singh and the Project Manager of Manipal Global, Pradyumna Mohanty.
With the requirement of more classroom and manpower as the institute expand its training, the new centre was again added at Hotel Imphal By The classic with the presence of our Chairman and Managing Director along with all the head of department. The institution strives to train and prepare individuals not only to meet the industry standard but also to ensure employability in the job market. In tune with this challenge the students are facilitated and mentored by experienced trainers who are certified by Manipal City & Guilds (MCG) under the aegis of Manipal Education (India) and City & Guilds (UK).
To put the know-how and expertise into practice, a unique tailor made course is designed to impart an up-to-date knowledge and skills that are relevant to the job. Demonstration room, mock room and kitchen are provided for practical class in simulated environment comprising – Front Office, House Keeping, Food and Beverage Service and Culinary Arts. To complement the state of art facilities, a good collection of books and air conditioned classrooms are inherent parts of the institute.

With the excellence performance in delivering quality trainings to the youths of Manipur as well as assisting them in giving 100% job placement in and outside Manipur, CHTI was even recognised well by City & guilds based in UK and made CHTI an eligible training centre for delivering international Vocational Training also. CHT had been recognised as one of the best training centre for Manipal Global.
CHTI in its endeavour to produce trained and qualified professionals have a limited intake capacity. We serves as uninterrupted source of qualified professional in the hospitality sector and our students are placed in highly reputed hotel chains like TAJ, Oberoi, Marriott, Leela, ITC Maratha etc. Not only in reputed 5 star hotels but also in aviation industry, our students excel. Few students after completion of their training got job in airlines like Jet Airways, Indigo airline, Spice jet etc both as Cabin crew and ground staff. CHTI also gives opportunities to students to get a job in our own classic group of hotels as few don’t prefer to relocate themselves due to some of their personal reasons. Not only we absorb in our own hotel but also give full assistant in getting job in other hotels and restaurant run successfully in Manipur. We even provide placement in reputed hospital and diagnostic centres like Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostic in departments where they have trained mainly in Front office, Food and Beverage Service and production and Housekeeping. Thus, it speaks of the volume of its qualities.
CHTI not only focus on one year diploma courses but do implement short term courses also in the main three department of Hospitality. It further helps in delivering the Prime Minister vision of Skill development by participating in PMKVY projects (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) and has trained many students under centrally sponsored Funded by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. CHTI had also participated in the development of the state human resource in collaboration with the Planning Department, Government of Manipur under Border Area Development programme and had trained a number of students from border areas of the state mainly from Ukhrul and Churachandpur district and had made them Industry ready and now on the verge of delivering training for Chandel area students again. The numbers of Jobs provided by the CHTI to its trained students is almost 100 percent. True to its motto “Learn to Excel” the students are provided with the best of what the institute can offer also the Institute itself never stop itself in bringing the best for its students and had recently affiliated with National Skill Development Corporation, New Delhi as its training Partner and had evolve from being a training centre to training partner. Now, we are looking forward to get affiliated with Aviation Sector Council and Healthcare Skill council very soon. CHTI is on the anvil of expanding its reach by opening three more training centres at 7different locations of the state. Till date CHTI had trained more than 1000 students and had provided more than 85% of job placement. This is a big contribution for the welfare of the state.
